Frequently Asked Questions About our Timber Frame Sheds
How do I Order a Timber Frame Shed?
Ordering a timber frame shed is as easy as 1-2-3! First, request a formal estimate using our free quote page. Next, you’ll sign off on the estimate and provide the deposit. Finally, your structure is ordered! Wait for our shed builders to bring you your new Lancaster County Backyard Structure!
Can I Customize the Timber Frame Shed Designs?
Excellent question! Yes. Lancaster County Backyard can fully customize any of our structures; however, full customization is only available for a small number of customers each year. Smaller customizable choices, such as stain, paint, and shingle colors or ramps, shelves, and window additions, are more readily available.
Where Does Lancaster County Backyard Install Timber Frame Sheds?
Lancaster County Backyard primarily installs Timber Frame Sheds in PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA, NY, and CT. However, in most cases Lancaster County Backyard offers installation for backyard structures within a 200-mile radius from our location. Costs may increase significantly outside of this radius.
Is a Permit Required for a Timber Frame Shed?
Lancaster County Backyard does not obtain permits for our timber frame sheds or other backyard structures. Permit requirements often vary by state, county, city, or local municipality. In general, permits are usually required for sheds, but exact requirements vary. Check your state and local laws for the most accurate permit requirements for you!
Why is Timber Frame Construction Better For a Shed?
Timber frame construction is a traditional and centuries-old wood construction method. Our sheds have the look of a traditional timber frame building and, with a fully upgraded timber frame interior, a spacious, sturdy timber frame interior as well. Without the upgrade, our sheds provide the look of a timber frame building with the reliable storage you could expect from a quality shed from Lancaster County Backyard. Choose a timber frame shed for a gorgeous storage space that will last!

Can I Place a Timber Frame Shed on Bare Ground?
While placing a shed with or without a floor on bare dirt is possible, we highly recommend you don’t. Placing a timber frame shed directly on the ground can cause the wood to rot and can expose the items inside to moisture as well. Placing a timber frame shed on a crushed stone or concrete foundation ensures its security and that it is on a level surface and will not warp due to uneven surface and break over time.
