We can not say enough about the craftsmanship and customer service of Lancaster County Backyard. We were hosting a party and needed a pergola to keep our guest out of the direct sun of our backyard.
The party was fast approaching and we were losing hope that we would find a quality product to meet our needs, when we found LCB. Kevin and his team were fantastic, it was noticeable from our first discussion that LCB are expert craftsmen.and had unsurpassed knowledge which could meet our build needs.
Not only where they able to meet our deadline, Kevin and his team delivered a beautiful white wood pergola which is the envy of our neighbors. We would highly recommend the quality, service and craftsmanship of LCB.

After a summer of shopping for a pavilion with many disappointments we thought we would not get our pavilion that is until I had a phone conversation with Kevin. After this conversation with him suddenly I realized that he was not only interested in selling his product, but he wanted to be sure his customer would be happy. In my opinion he would rather not get the sale if his customer would not be happy. He shared information no other companies provided.
After careful consideration of all the data we decided go with Lancaster County Backyard (Pequea Shed). Kevin and the crew arrived early Wednesday morning and worked all day to complete the project by around 4:30PM. The end result was absolutely perfect. Total perfection at it’s best!. Kevin and the crew was a real pleasure to work with. You can really tell when someone loves what they do. What I love best is that they love the Lord. I got that feeling with the very first phone call. It’s a pleasure to know you. God Bless !!!!

Questions?
What’s the best way to care for a wood structure?
The milling of lumber creates an extremely smooth surface. Structures may be factory stained, but the best time to apply stain for longevity is approximately 3 months after installation. That way, the majority of checking will be exposed and the dryer, more porous wood will hold stain better. Check this blog post about “PRESERVING OUTDOOR WOOD“
Will the wood check on my structure?
Wood checking is part of the experience of owning a wood structure. Most checks appear in the first year after installing the pavilion, pergola, or gazebo. Inevitable checking is one of the reasons we recommend waiting until 3 months after installation to stain a structure. That way the stain can be applied while the wood is still fresh but after the majority of checking has occurred.
Do you offer a DIY kit?
Depending on your requirements, we could produce a kit for your structure. We don’t recommend DIY kits for these structures, however, as the building requirements can be complicated. Our builders are fast, efficient, and experts in their field. Give us a try!
To what areas do you deliver?
Our delivery area for most Pavilions, Pergolas, and Gazebos is 200 miles of our home base in Lancaster County, Pensylvania. This radius allows us to reach into most of Pennsylvania, all of Maryland, Deleware, New Jersey, much of Virginia, New York, and Connecticut. We deliver large Pavilions nationwide across the contiguous United States.
Can I place a pergola or pavilion on bare ground?
To place a pergola/pavilion on bare ground, you should first install concrete piers that mound just a bit above the surface of the ground. (for concrete pier details, see Answer to Q. Can I mount it on my paver patio?)
Can I mount a pergola or pavilion on my deck?
If you’re mounting to an existing wood deck, a good and proper mounting method is to drop the posts down through the deck and secure them to the joists. The recommended method is to take the wooden portion of the post down through the deck. (Trim pieces for vinyl make this a bit simpler.)
Can I mount a pergola or pavilion to my paver patio?
We do not recommend fastening to pavers. They do not provide structural stability and are not a secure anchoring method. The recommended method is to install concrete piers 18” in diameter and 36” deep. Remove a section of pavers approximately 24” in diameter. Then dig down 36”. Fill with concrete to approximately one to two inches below the bottom of pavers. After the pergola or pavilion is installed, the pavers can be cut to fit and replaced around the columns.
