Our Story
Founded by Abner King and his oldest son, Ivan, in 1978, our parent company, Pequea, was started primarily to manufacture sheds. However, in 1987, gazebos were added to the line of backyard structures. In 2006, Steven and Calvin (sons of Abner) stepped into ownership with Ivan. The same year, a fire destroyed the gazebo and shed facility. Although tragic, this forced them to build a better and bigger shop. The expansion inspired them to explore other types of outdoor structures. In 2008, two new lines of buildings, namely, wood and vinyl pavilions and pergolas, were added to the already existing range of outdoor gazebos. Lancaster County Backyard delivers these beautiful structures to homes and businesses throughout Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and beyond.
The builders at Lancaster County Backyard are an Amish-Mennonite family whose steady work ethic has shaped the company from the start. Family ownership and hands-on involvement remain central, giving each project the attention and care that customers value. Every gazebo, pavilion, and pergola is designed to bring beauty and character to your backyard, with careful attention to detail and craftsmanship always taking precedence over volume.

Our Facility
The Lancaster County Backyard facility is located at 211 New Holland Rd, Kinzers, PA 17535. It has seen significant growth over the past two decades. In 2006, a fire in the outdoor gazebo plant forced us to rebuild the entire facility. The new, larger facility offered increased shop space and dedicated construction areas, allowing us to produce pergolas and pavilions. In 2021, we opened a state-of-the-art shop specifically designed for timber frame manufacturing.

From the start, we have been pleasing buyers with our highest grade of craftsmanship, and uncompromising quality. While some sacrifice quality for quantity, Lancaster County Backyard takes pride in each one of our structures and makes every effort to produce a durable, yet affordable building that will meet your individual needs, in addition to complementing your home or place of business.
If we make a mistake on a structure, we will either fix the error at no charge to the customer or credit the dollar amount for the mistake.
